PNC Fairfax Connection

PNC
Ohio United States
Opened September 2012

Dynamic physical and digital solutions enable the Connection to adapt to serve children, teens, small business owners, and seniors with different types of programs.

A bold new strategy for community engagement and revitalization that features inviting modular spaces, powerful collaboration tools and a suite of programs from toddler rock to financial education.

PNC Financial Services Group, one of the nation’s largest banks, asked ESI Design to help them to create a community center in Cleveland, Ohio that would forge a new relationship and bond between a bank and its community.

The result is the PNC Fairfax Connection, a dynamic physical space, digital platform and programming resource that will empower residents and business owners to achieve their goals through education, support and inspiration. Rather than design the Center for the Fairfax community, the big idea was to design the Center in close collaboration with the Fairfax community at every step of the way to ensure the initiative supports their interests and needs.

ESI’s design solution features a modular physical space that can easily adapt to suit different types of programming needs, an open technology platform that provides program support and can evolve based on content contributed by the community, PNC and its partners, and a suite of program offerings that will help individuals and businesses thrive.

The programs will focus primarily on education, with an emphasis on early childhood and financial education for children, parents and caregivers; technology training for individuals and small business owners; overcoming barriers to accessing job opportunities and celebrating the community’s rich cultural resources.

The PNC Fairfax Connection represents a bold new approach to the typical relationship of a community with its bank that we hope will take root and spread across communities, worldwide.
