For over 30 years, ESI Design has been creating science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) experiences that get students excited about “real world” applications, making us a trusted collaborator with museums, nonprofits and corporations in designing innovative STEM programming. We specialize in creative collaborative, multi-platform environments and networks that immerse kids in contextual and active science, inspire curiosity and experimentation through creative problem solving, and encourage knowledge sharing and positive actions towards finding solutions for big challenges.
Some highlights from our Portfolio include:
INFINITY at NASA Stennis Space Center, opening in 2012, was conceived to inspire the children of Mississippi to become the next generation of scientists. Here, kids learn about Earth as an interconnected system. They participate in missions and use remote sensing technology to map the depth of the ocean, measure water pollution and collect real weather data. These activities, combined with the experience of interacting with real scientists at work, bring STEM principles out of the classroom and into the world, empowering young visitors with inspiration, knowledge and new skills.
For Sony, we transformed the public space at their U.S. headquarters on Madison Avenue in NYC to create one of the first integrated brand museum experiences where kids take on different roles and collaborate in hands-on, high-tech labs using Sony’s communications technology. Kids work together to run a TV production studio, control a MARS Rover, operate on a sick patient, or clean up an environmental oil spill.
For educational publisher Carnegie Learning, ESI created a bold interface design to their MATHia Software that keeps middle school students motivated through a personalized learning experience that adapts to each student based on his/her unique level of knowledge, cognitive skill and interests – using real-world contexts in areas such as sports/fitness, art/music, money/business and the environment/nature.
