A dynamic feed of business news and data fills the lobby of NYPL’s Science, Industry and Business Library.
In 1996, UBS was given the opportunity to sponsor a display at the New York Public Library’s Science, Industry and Business Library (SIBL). The display would highlight UBS’s contribution to the library and symbolize the business world’s reliance on up-to-date financial information. ESI designed the Business Information Wall – a state-of-the-art electronic signage system that broadcasts current events and business programming and provides financial market and commodities information on demand.
In 2004, UBS and the Library retained ESI to redesign the existing content display system. The updated Business Information Wall utilizes the latest technology and communicates the new UBS brand while reflecting the Library’s mission as a resource for local, national and international business information and an engine for local business.
The new Business Information Wall is a dynamic complement to the Library’s atrium lobby. Seventeen 40” and 20” flat LCD screens present information drawn from three primary content sources – the web, cable business news and pre-produced DVD content. A large LED sign broadcasts business headlines and stock information. Illuminated LED background panels animate the entire display with rotating colors – blue, green, purple and magenta. The templates feature continuously updated financial information, U.S. and world market news, currency charts, trading activity, as well as information on activities at the library.
