Experimentation driving innovation.
The ESI Lab is our prototyping, research and development space. Here, we experiment with new technologies, unconventional interactions and untested concepts to prove our design ideas robust, feasible and innovative.
The Lab is integral to ESI’s approach to designing iteratively, through collaboration and by showing, not telling. LED tests, 3-D Printing, architectural modeling, scale mock-ups and technological trials take place in our lab and are shared with clients and partners. By showing, we are able to engage all stakeholders in a project’s vision and test the limits of our conceptual thinking. By collaborating in-house, on-site and off-site with iterative mock-ups, we create lasting value from our design process.
We believe good design should be intuitive, engaging and functional. In the lab, we test our designs against those core values. We ask questions such as:
- How will it feel to have X number of people in this space?
- How large of a display is necessary to allow X number of people to share an experience?
- How immersive and interactive can a piece of technology be?
We then utilize the Lab to uncover the answers and inform our design. In this way, we design with the audience, not merely for the audience.
